I had to make sure the brew installation of openssl was on the PATH as outlined by d_sc — then had to recompile via asdf. Before that mix local.hex was complaining.
I think you needed to asdf plugin-update erlang first. Then asdf would have known that there was a version 20.1.
Is everything running ok on High Sierra now?
OS X keeps telling me to upgrade but I keep putting it off
