Just few days ago deepseek released. If today you would by dev machine, would you consider local ai model, like deepseek as viable alternative to cloud ones and buy maxed out mac/pc?

Also, I don’t think you have to buy a maxed out machine to run deepseek locally and get decent results, but if you have the budget might as well go all out

You could set up a cluster of 8 Mac Minis with 64GB each…

This is really cool: They’re running the full 671 billion parameter model on a cluster of 8 Mac Minis, each with 64GB of RAM.
