Your keyboard looks awesome, and appears to follow the shape I mentioned earlier (almost like a heart shape). Now it’s made and you’ve been using it for a while, do you think it might have been worth adding a few more keys, perhaps above the 9 and 8 and one to the left of each them? Or maybe even a single one where it feels most natural?
How did you find what the perfect fitting is for you? Use paper? Or maybe keys cut out of paper with a bit of sticky tape on the back so you could find the p…

Thanks! I’ve since switched to using all white keycaps, which I think look better.

RE: Adding more keys
I’ve actually been trying to go the other way. Using layers and modifiers I want to reduce the keys to make this keyboard smaller. The two columns on the outside I almost never use, so I was thinking of getting rid of them. The beauty of this hobby, is there is no right or wrong, just whatever suits you. If you value more keys over compact size, then great. For me, I want to keep it small.

RE: The fit
I own a cornekb, and I just fiddled with the two halves until they got to feel just right to me. Then I measured the distances between them, and the angle with a protractor, and that’s how I laid out my board in KiCAD.

RE: Trying to make one
It’s a blast. Vibrant community, lots of information out there. If you want some pointers I can help. If you want to make mine, or fork it and modify it, go for it. There is a build guide in there that I wrote.
Warning: it’s like the dark side of the force, once you start down this path, forever it will dominate your destiny.

RE: Business opportunity
There are lots of people doing all sorts of things, and some of the top end designers do sell kits of their designs as a business. The idea of customizing keyboards occurred to me to, but never enough for me to want to try to see if I could sell. Honestly, I don’t think my skill level in these builds is quite at the commercial level.

Anyway, thanks for the compliment, and let me know if I can help.
