We have an e-commerce webpage and are use Liveview for a kind of designer for placing logo’s on the product, but are using the iframe technology. I’d like to ask how is LiveViewPortal different from LiveView when it comes to state management options? IIUC URL params are not available, are they?
Params are not available by default. However, in one of our LiveView apps embedded in third-party sites, we do have URL params — thanks to a custom implementation. That app still uses our old modified LiveView setup, without Portal. When we migrate it to LiveViewPortal, we’ll evaluate whether to keep it as a custom solution per app or extract something reusable for all portal-based apps.

We are waiting for feedback on this before opening a PR in the LiveView repo. Have you tried the library? Do you have any suggestions or have you encountered any shortcomings?

I tried it out with our Shopware e-commerce webpage and the test basically worked. However, a problem arose immediately, namely a version mismatch of the Liveview version used on the Javascript side, i.e. npm package and the Liveview version used on the server side. Or I have misunderstood the instructions.
It works, but in the browser console appears:
LiveView asset version mismatch. JavaScript version 1.0.2 vs. server 1.0.10. To avoid issues, please ensure that your assets use the same version as the server.
With an iframe solution this is of course less of a problem or am I seeing it wrong?

Honestly, I didn’t test the library in our products yet, ironically because I was waiting for the PR to be merged 
The reason is because I can’t risk using a library in prod that changes some internal parts of LV and could block us from updating LV and other issues if not properly maintained, so for now we are just using iframes in production until we can see what way this feature goes.

Not really, I was talking about a PR to add the changed needed for the OP library to be inside LV itself. The PR doesn’t exists yet.
But, either way, nice to know that we could possibly get portal functionality in LV, looking forward to it
