I just released v0.5.0 of HexDocs MCP with some nice improvements and important bug fixes.
What’s New
URL Field Support - The biggest addition is that embeddings now include direct URLs to the original documentation. This means AI assistants can optionally fetch the full documentation page for better context when needed. This relates partially to the discussion above for supporting the ReAG.
Note: If you have existing embeddings, they won’t have URLs yet. To add them:
- CLI:
mix hex.docs.mcp fetch PACKAGE --force - MCP: Ask your AI to
fetch the latest PACKAGE hexdocs with the force option
Bug Fixes
- Fixed latest version detection when fetching packages
- Fixed postinstall script for initial npm setup
