There always exists the possibility that they enclose only some vulnerabilities and keep the really juicy ones for themselves. I can very easily believe that. But I don’t see why we still shouldn’t all upgrade our Linuxes to have some vulnerabilities fixed while we are waiting for the open models to become as good as Claude Mythos.

on the long tail / long horizon Qwen recent release is pushing the horizon out further, but even then the horizon is still far enough out that it’ll likely be 3 yrs minimum before anything too substantial is possible across systems e.g. (GitHub - ietf-wg-wimse/draft-ietf-wimse-arch: Draft of a WIMSE architecture document · GitHub) and libkrun are kinda not adopted, security teams just saying what’s the mumbo jumbo doing, well how about we fix the supply chain issues low effort, high impact stuff

Shall I regret that I put a lot of effort towards José’s oligarchy? My contributions to Linux core happened 20 years ago, did they already led to Linus’ oligarchy yet, or shall I wait more? My own libraries, I maintain—when and where can I get my oligarch badge?
Ah, you are maybe talking about corporations using my code? I am fine with that, and everyone else who released their code under MIT/Apache/BSD is too. I don’t think I was ever an engine for G becoming oligarchy, but I surely know many people I have been collaborating with, making them happier a bit with my OSS effort and vice versa.
In my experience, that “oligarchy” narrative is just a demagogic twist invented by those who prefer take and not give.
