<p>You are not understanding here I think. With asdf / mise you can install any version you like; you don’t tell those tools “please update Elixir”. You are saying you have read the documentation but it seems that this rather crucial aspect is still escaping you.</p>

<p>This is what happens when i do my best to update openssl and i have installed and it worked out perfectly fine with libcrypto. I still get the same error whenever i try to connect my db Mariadb to my phoenix application.</p>

								<p>I doubt the error above is when connecting to MariaDB, it reads as if it is during initialising anything that uses an encrypted connection.</p>
<p>And you have this, because your systems libcrypto is version 3.x, but OTP is dynamically linked against 1.x, you either need to install that <em>old</em> version of libcrypto/libssl/libopenssl or get an OTP that links against the new 3.x version.</p>

<p>This is unrelated to your libcrypto problem. You have been given several hints on how to fix that. Please refer to the many messages in <a href="https://forum.elixirforum.com/t/getting-error-unable-to-load-crypto-library-openssl-might-not-be-installed-on-this-system/73655" class="inline-onebox" rel="nofollow">Getting error: Unable to load crypto library.. OpenSSL might not be installed on this system</a> that suggest using a different OTP or that link instructions about how to install an older version of libcrypto.</p>
