QEMU has built in 9p server and it uses v9pfs module from Linux to mount that. e9p for now do not have client implementation which would be required there if one want to have access to 9p files without kernel. There is plan to implement client as well, but I implemented server first, as it was more important for my goal of exposing ERTS data as filesystem.
