18.05.2023 - Erlang & Elixir Meetup Krakow / Poland #2 offline event

Hey!

We would like to invite you to our upcoming meetup, where you’ll have the chance to connect with other functional programming developers and hear two interesting presentations.

I Presentation - 25 min + Q&A
Speaker: Paweł Długosz - Developer at Erlang Solutions
Topic: Discrete agent-based simulation with Nx library.
Abstract: Nx library opened a new world of numerical computations to the Elixir ecosystem. Combining BEAM’s concurrency/distribution model with JIT compiled native code for CPU/GPU can lead to numerous applications. In this talk we’ll see how we can leverage it to build a distributed simulation framework with focus on accelerating calculations with GPU.

II Presentation - 45 min + Q&A
Speaker: Maciej Bendkowski - Senior Haskell Developer at Generation Lambda
Topic: Effective random generation of algebraic data types through Boltzmann samplers.
Abstract: In this talk, we discuss the main principles of Boltzmann samplers, and their usefulness in random generation of algebraic data types. We present a prototype Haskell framework called generic-boltzmann-brain, which synthesises highly effective Boltzmann samplers at compile time, while providing strict control over the samplers’ outcome probability distributions.

As always, we will have discussion, network, pizza and beer provided throughout the event.
Please RSVP to confirm your attendance here.
Registration is important to ensure we have accurate attendance numbers and can plan accordingly.

So come on out and join us! We can’t wait to see you there
