Anyone interested in cost-sharing for an underutilized server I am running?

I’m operating a Proxmox server in a Frankfurt data center with an Intel Xeon E-2236, 32GB RAM, and 1.6TiB SSD, which is currently underutilized. I’m looking for a single trustworthy partner interested in using one or more VMs for non-resource-intensive, non-mission-critical projects to help share running costs.

I’ve never done this before, so if you have any advice on how to go about it, please share. If you are interested, get in touch!

This may or may not be true depending on what the VM is doing. One of my VMs, for instance, hosts a Mikrotik RouterOS installation. That one could easily run on just 256MB:

All my other VMs are running Debian Bookworm, which theoretically can also run on 256MB. In practice, my Caddy server VM, my Technitium DNS server VM, and my Asterisk PBX VM each run comfortably on 1GB. Add to this 4GB for a smooth Proxmox operation, and you have 4 VMs requiring less than 25% of the 32GB.

You could save even more memory by going to a container base setup, like LXC, since you control all your infra, and all of them running on the same physical box using the same linux distribution.

While I think I have no use for that right now it’s IMO helpful to share what kind of an expense would that incur to your potential partner.
