The idea started around May 2023, the heavy work in August 2023.
You can watch the ongoing development here. It’s a good opportunity to either learn how Ethereum Consensus works or to contribute to an Elixir open source project, or both.
It has financial backing from LambdaClass, a company I admire.
As this client is completed, it will add more diversity to Ethereum, where under a situation where a bug appears in a given implementation, it could theoretically halt the network and/or make you loose ETH if such implementation belongs to more than 1/3 of the running clients.
It is a fast paced project and it should bring Elixir awareness to a wider arena of distributed systems enthusiasts.
