James, Ireland - hire me plz

Greetings, comrades

I am looking for a new job, hopefully continuing with my Elixir journey.

I work remotely from Ireland.

I have been working with Elixir for 7 years and I’m hoping to find a team that cares as much as I do about building things well.

You can check my profile here or my github peaceful-james (Peaceful James) · GitHub to get a feel for what I can do. I can provide a CV if needed.

I quit my last contract after 3 years due to a mismatch of responsibility and quality control.

I have a side-project that I am working on full-time now but it is a social initiative and does not make a profit.

I have applied to a few Elixir jobs but they all rejected me without much consideration. Not sure what I’m doing wrong TBH. It’s starting to look like I will have to go back to Python or C# or something. Yeesh.

If you’re looking for a slightly wild but super smart + kind Elixir dev to join your team and spot weird details that nobody else sees, get in touch. I prefer kind people.

Are you on Elixir Slack? The jobs channel has a lot a of posting lately. I know some are xposted here though I don’t think all (unless I’m just missing them).

I got a job offer! Thanks very much to all the people who messaged me and referred me to companies.

For anyone else looking for a job - never give up. I had to take 20+ rejections before I got an offer. Most of them gave either no feedback or absurdly inscrutable feedback. A few gave really good feedback that helped me change how I answer questions in interviews. I think the strongest technique is to get good written references from previous employers.
