Yes, it is by “anti discrimination laws” and due to the fact that in German traditionally the generic term is equal to the male term and therefore considered discriminating.

Also there is no term at all that refers to non binary persons.

That’s why m/f/d and m/w/d exist.

The law sadly does not respect the fact that for job offers in foreign languages those gender neutral terms do actually exists and still forces usage of mfd.
