Hi Everyone!
Following on from our new Library Updates section we now have a similar feature for Events ![]()
What this essentially allows (once a main thread for the event has been posted in the Events List section) is for certain things to be posted as individual threads to help maximise exposure …but with minimal impact on our SEO and optimisations for readability.
To begin with this new section can only be used for the following:
- To alert people that the deadline is approaching for the call for talks.
- To remind people the event is about to take place.
- To let people know how the event went.
In ALL cases there must be a main thread already for the event in the Events List section, and, only one thread for each of the above is permitted (so time them accordingly - eg, one month to two weeks before the deadline for calling for talks and a month or a week before the event start for a reminder it is going ahead).
All threads posted in this section will be merged with the main thread one week later.
How to post an Event Update thread
- First, make sure you have a parent thread in the main Events List section.
- Then, when creating an update thread, simply ensure the FIRST link in the post is to that parent thread.
That’s it! ![]()
The system will check:
- That the first link is to a thread in the main Events List section.
- That the username of the poster of both threads are the same.
The system will then merge the thread into the main thread one week later, or, if either of the above fails it will merge the thread into a hidden catch-all thread after a week (so essentially deleting it).
We hope you like this addition to the forum! ![]()
