Can anyone from PragProg give an update on the status of this book? I’d be interested to know if we’re close to the final release.

They are probably waiting Liveview to be 1.0 before making the final version…

We should definitely do another book club on this soon! Fancy heading it Peter?

In fact, I plan to re-read the book (I couldn’t get past the first few chapters the first time), Aston. So if there are enough people interested, we can start a new round.

Was expecting that the book will be released in Mar, 2025 as indicated earlier on the Pragmatic site and since LiveView 1.0 had been released. However, I see that the publishing date on the book is now Oct, 2025 on the Pragmatic site.

Does this mean that some changes are brewing in LiveView that authors feel are critical and need to be incorporated and they are waiting for some target Elixir / Phoenix / LiveView version.

Or some restructuring is taking place because the 12th beta update at the end of January already has code according to LiveView version 1.0 ?

Eagerly awaiting the final version of the book.

Beta 12 appeared on January 29, 2025, not long after LiveView 1.0’s December launch, but the final edition is still pending. Since Phoenix 1.8 has been in release candidate since April 01, is the book’s full release waiting on Phoenix 1.8? I’d love to hear the authors’ thoughts on this.

New Beta is released:

B13.0 Release Notes: Final beta through Phoenix 1.8.
This book is in Beta, final version expected Jan 2026

Guess this is the PragProg book that stayed in beta the longest.

Those poor souls will never be done writing this book.

Have half stopped expecting the release of this book,

Would be good if the expected publishing date is moved from Jan, 2026  to sometime in future.

One of new year resolution was to stop checking whether this book has been published. That goes down the drain. Hope people do not get the impressions that writing something in LiveView is not as difficult as publishing this book.

I bought the book years ago, and have gotten free updates since then. Why would I complain about that?

It has been a journey…

The good news is that it is in layout now, and should be available sometime around the end of March/beginning of April.
