RTP-MIDI / AppleMIDI support (RFC 6295/RFC 4696)

Is anybody aware of an implementation of RTP-MIDI (AppleMIDI)] (RFC 6295/RFC 4696) on top of either the Membrane RTP library (or any other library) that would enable one to send and receive MIDI protocol without any dedicated MIDI hardware?

If not, do you think that Membrane brings everything to the table that would be needed to enable this payload type to be more or less easily implemented on top of it?

Hi, Membrane doesn’t have that implemented, but it supports RTP and has abstractions for implementing custom payloads. See

• GitHub - membraneframework/membrane_rtp_plugin: Membrane bins and elements for sending and receiving RTP/SRTP and RTCP/SRTCP streams - this handles RTP in general
• GitHub - membraneframework/membrane_rtp_format: Real-time Transport Protocol format for Membrane Framework - this one you’ll need to register your payload so that the RTP plugin can use it
• GitHub - membraneframework/membrane_rtp_h264_plugin: Membrane RTP payloader and depayloader for H264 - payload implementation for H264, can be used as an example
