Because its hard to be successful when chasing the bottom of the market. Suppose you offered a very nicely equipped pod at $10 a month. You are still 10-times more expensive than a shared PHP host. The cost-conscious customer is going to skip right by, while the really profitable customers are the one not worrying about every dollar and cent spent on hosting, so you are better off focusing on your unique value proposition. “Apples and Oranges” ? Yes of course, but its also apples and oranges to compare a first-tier managed cloud platform to “your own data center”, or even Digital Ocean/OVH etc.

Hi @jesse, do you have some news or a roadmap for Gigalixir? We really like it as a service for the simplicity, ease of use and good documentation. But I think it needs few small improvements. For example:

team management / roles - someone has a paid account and invites me or other developer(s) to the team, so we can create, scale and manage apps, but the owner of that team has the knowledge of the payment method and the developer is not needed or able to know the payment details

billing report - to know how much the app or the user spent since the start of the current billing period

I can only imagine the amount of work that has to be done to provide these features and I don’t want to create pressure. I am just curious to know the plans.

Anyway, good luck with Gigalixir, it’s a cool service.

Unfortunately, it seems to me, that
gigalixir access:add
will work only with simple scenarios for particular app(s). But we did setup our CI/CD workflow with pull request preview apps (or review apps). So we need to give somebody account-wide permissions, not only for one app. At one moment, we can have two apps running (prod + staging) or few more too (each for one pull-request). It would be really cool, if some form of organization (like on GitHub) would be possible to create.
