Hi dear community! Last 2025 was a complicated year, I was part of a laid off in July, I’ve been looking for new roles, unfortunately the market is crazy, I had some issues with Latam, although there are good positions in US, they are not available for Mexico, so this reduce my opportunities.

I’ve been applying to consultancy jobs, but it’s so complex how the consultancy processes works, there are many companies involved during the process to fill the position for US clients, even when everything looks good, the positions can be closed suddenly without any reason.

So now I’m here asking for your help and support to continue my journey in the Elixir and Erlang ecosystem.

Welcome Elixir: GitHub - the-elixir-developer/welcome-elixir: Your initial steps in the Elixir and Erlang world. Welcome Elixir 👋 · GitHub

Who am I?

I’m Carlo, a Mexican programmer. I’m involved in the Elixir community for the last 7 years, my last experience was as part of Erlang Solutions in the Americas Team, also I’m a big promoter of Elixir by illustrating conferences in real time, maybe you saw my Graphic Recordings in social media, or if you attended a conference organized by ESL probably you have one of my sticker designs I made in collaboration.

What I’m looking for?

I have the pleasure to be in Switzerland the last 3 months to work in the most bigger codebase of Smalltalk, learning Pharo and Moldable development, and this experience change my mind about software. Smalltalk and Elixir are very different approaches, but both are part of very interesting approaches I never seen in other ecosystems. While I was learning how to code live objects in live systems, I remember how powerful is work with processes in Elixir. What is incredible in Smalltalk is the ability to extend the code as a knowledge system, so eventually you become a whole owner of your application, not only in technical sense, you’ll be the business owner as well. I suggest you to learn more about Glamorous Toolkit and give a try to Pharo.

Now I’m more excited to bring this capabilities to the Elixir ecosystem, in complement of my experience as a consultant. You can see my whole experience here: Carlo Gilmar CV

You can reach me out by email carlogilmar12@gmail.com or LinkedIn

I’d appreciate any recommendation, feedback, or comment.

Thanks for reading me.
