About the job

Job title: Backend Developer
Salary range: EUR 60,000-100,000

Responsibilities

You will work with a small group of skilled developers and designers dedicated to building top-tier products for users all over the world with access to an Elixir Core team member.

You’ll design and implement scalable systems, create and maintain APIs, and optimize performance to support our co-operating platform. You’ll ensure security best practices are in place while working with frontend developers, designers, and product managers to bring new features to life. Your work will empower creators by developing tools that help them build their platforms and products effectively.

We do not hire solely based on experience with a few specific tools or languages or university degrees. Rather, we hire developers who are smart, pragmatic, and self-driven. We value the ability to learn new tools and function in an agile environment. Requirements

3+ years of experience with Elixir and OTP: you have developed applications for production use
An interest in systems that are highly available, resilient, and run at scale
Sense of craftsmanship: you strive for code quality and maintainability, write tests as part of your coding routine
Knowledge about caching strategies, message queues and service-oriented architectures
An understanding of setting up infrastructure and managing Linux servers
Experience with deployment tooling, monitoring, alerting, data visualization, load testing and/or live system debugging
Strong communication skills
Be a team player, pay attention to detail, and be not afraid to share unconventional ideas
Good oral and written skills in English, as IRIS operates globally, and many employees are international

Would be a plus

Experience with Web and Live View and Terraform
6+ of production experience with Elixir and OTP

Do you ever have any openings for juniors? I have 4 years experience but only if you include internships (which, I’m learning the hard way, usually don’t count).

I have no professional elixir experience and it’s hard to get. I was so close to getting an elixir job recently but it didn’t happen

Hey @chrisdel101, I know how hard job search can be, especially because most Elixir employers are looking for seniors. I saw this post on LinkedIn, and although I don’t have any information on it’s credibility, I bet it does no harm giving a try.

I reached out to them about that. Not sure if it’s some kind of paid program, or what it is exactly. I’m for sure not looking for any kind of paid boot camp or paid mentorship course. I’d pay a recuriter to find me interviews though - scammers not included.
