Hiring section maybe?

Hi!

There has been some discussion about hiring/jobs on here and I thought about running this by everyone.

I wanted to try to help recruiters/HR folks/engineers in hiring positions that may not know how to reach Elixir devs. A lot of these folks just get a req and need to fill it. Maybe there is guidance on their end, maybe there is not. Maybe they are new and don’t know the community that well. Maybe they are used to a certain way of hiring a certain persona and when it comes to Elixir they are not fully equipped.

The same way we can always improve on our end as devs looking for work, the folks on the other side are also trying to improve on theirs. But maybe they just don’t know what they don’t know. From the vast majority of my experiences, it’s just people trying their best at doing their job.

I realized we could potentially nudge/help these folks in hiring positions in some way. At this point, I’m not entirely sure this solution is a good one, but it is one nonetheless. After seeing how a lot of folks respond positively when I point them to this gist I thought about adding something along thos
e lines to the Elixir website as a sidebar link since we do have some content that addresses the community, learning materials and helps devs get involved.

A con to this is “why the heck would a programming language website try to bridge this gap?”. That’s for sure on my mind and maybe it weighs heavier than the pros altogether. On the other hand, if this helps folks get hired in any way, maybe it’s worth it.

Here is a PR that adds a “Hire Elixir Devs” section to the Elixir website(my fork): https://github.com/pdgonzalez872/elixir-lang.github.com/pull/1, this is what it would look like:
