I recently learned about this API and was surprised there’s no explicit support for it in the the Phoenix.

Example use cases:

  1. A website with notifications. User opens the site in 5 tabs. When an event happens, instead of sending 5 nofications (server-side broadcast and duplication), we send just 1 (client-side broadcast).

  2. User has website opened in several tabs, but his session has expired. User logs in in 1 tab, then other tabs receive a local event and refresh/redirect/etc.

In other words, we treat multiple tabs as a single application (as it is).

We can of course build own solutions on top of LV, but would be cool if LV supported this out of the box.
