Hi everyone!
After about 3 months of really hard work, we have released the very first version of Jellyfish Media Server!
The best starting point is the documentation available here: https://jellyfish-dev.github.io/jellyfish-docs/
Version 0.1.0 comes with:
- support for WebRTC
- basic support for HLS
- REST and WS API
- authentication
- docker images
- 2 client SDKs - React and TypeScript
- 1 server SDK - Elixir
- documentation
- 4 example apps available in client SDK repositories: react-client-sdk/examples at main · fishjam-dev/react-client-sdk · GitHub ts-client-sdk/examples at main · fishjam-dev/ts-client-sdk · GitHub
We are not slowing down and in the nearest future we are going to:
- add support for RTSP
- move membrane_videoroom on Jellyfish - GitHub - membraneframework-labs/membrane_videoroom · GitHub
- move membrane_live on Jellyfish - GitHub - membraneframework-labs/membrane_live: Webinar app in React, Phoenix and Membrane · GitHub
- enhance server notifications (WS API)
Stay tuned!

Looks awesome!
I wonder if it can be used as a video transcoding solution for an offline media library. Seems to be part of its idea, must dig deeper.

Awesome! I’ll definitely be playing with this once RTSP support lands. I’d love to consume RTSP from IP cameras and stream to WebRTC in the browser for the lowest possible latency. I think there are a lot of people who want the same capabilities.

Jellyfish is going to be focused on real-time/live communication. In other words, our main goal is to allow for building streaming/communication solutions in an easy and fast way.
If the only thing you want to do is to transcode a video file from one format to another, that’s not the task for Jellyfish, at least not in the nearest feature
