New Podcast: Macro Mayhem by Peter Ullrich and Gus Workman

Announcing Macro Mayhem

@gus and I have started a new podcast called Macro Mayhem!

We cover Elixir news and general industry topics every two weeks, starting today!

You can find our first episode here:

  1. In your favorite podcast player
  2. YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@macromayhemfm
  3. Our website: https://macromayhem.fm

Our podcast is structured in the following way (for now):

First, we cover latest Elixir news and cool blog posts we read. Then a quick shout-out to upcoming meetups and conferences. Lastly, a longer and open-ended discussion section in which we discuss broader news and give our opinions on them.

If you want your work featured on the podcast, please don’t hesitate to tag either me or @gus in your Elixirforum thread or on Bluesky (@peterullrich.com or @gworkman or @macromayhem.fm) or on Linkedin.

We’re very much looking for your feedback as well! Let us know if you think we can improve anything from the sound quality to topics to the way we dress. All feedback is welcome

Congratulations on your new podcast @PJUllrich and @gus :tada:

I had it on in the background earlier - thought it was brilliant - I am sure you will fill the Thinking Elixir shoes no problem.. while also allowing your unique personality to shine through, which I already like :icon_biggrin: It was relaxed, mature, and full of curiosity!

Thank you also for the kind words about the forum refresh - you nailed that too - the new front end is designed to cater to people who don’t have the time to log-in daily (so the majority of users) while the base forum (at forum.elixirforum.com) is where our most regular users are likely to hang out. Many regulars might check out the ‘headlines’ when they first log on (homepage) then spend the rest of the day on the base forum.

After hearing your feedback we have changed the Latest label to Latest Threads to make it more obvious they are the latest threads, and the right hand col is essentially the public view of what the forum normally displays, i.e the threads with the most recent activity. We also upped this from 3 to 8:

They now also show an alert if there is anything new to see:

(Same for latest threads too).

Thanks again for the great feedback and good luck with Macro Mayhem - I am sure macro-mayhem is going to be a lot of fun for you and us! :003:
