We are seeking a skilled Senior Elixir Engineer to contribute to and help shape one of our product groups. This role requires strong technical expertise in Elixir, collaborative problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently on complex challenges. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to build robust systems, contribute to technical decisions, and make a meaningful impact on our platform and the supply chain industry.

You’ll be expected to provide input on product strategy, leveraging your technical expertise to identify opportunities and help guide product evolution.

This role will collaborate with the product development teams responsible for building, maintaining, and owning Stord’s Order Management System (OMS), Transportation Management System (TMS), Warehouse Management System (WMS), and the Consumer Experience (CX) platform.

What You’ll Do:

Technical Execution:

  • Write high-quality, maintainable code in Elixir/Phoenix

  • Build and maintain scalable, fault-tolerant systems leveraging Elixir’s concurrency model

  • Contribute to robust data pipelines for data ingestion, processing, and transformation

  • Help ensure the performance, reliability, and security of distributed systems

  • Work with GCP cloud services and modern infrastructure practices

  • Implement event-driven architectures and real-time system components

Collaboration & Technical Contribution:

  • Collaborate on technical decisions and contribute to architectural discussions

  • Participate in code reviews and help maintain high standards for code quality

  • Work within a team environment to build scalable systems

  • Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing initiatives

What You’ll Need:

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with 2+ years of focused experience with the Elixir programming language

  • Experience building and maintaining distributed systems in production environments

  • Solid understanding of functional programming principles and concurrent system design

  • Experience with cloud platforms, preferably GCP

  • Experience working with data pipelines and processing systems

  • Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to new technologies

  • Experience working with high-throughput systems

Technical Skills:

  • Strong proficiency in Elixir/Phoenix and familiarity with the OTP (Open Telecom Platform) ecosystem

  • Understanding of data engineering principles and practices

  • Experience with database systems and event streaming platforms

  • Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes)

  • Knowledge of distributed system patterns and microservices architecture

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Strong communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts clearly

  • Ability to work effectively in collaborative, cross-functional teams

  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions

  • Willingness to learn from and mentor other engineers

Bonus Points:

  • Previous startup experience

  • Previous logistics or supply chain experience

  • Familiarity with front-end technologies (React, TypeScript)

  • Experience with Order Management Systems (OMS), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), or Transportation Management Systems (TMS)

  • Experience with GenServer patterns and building fault-tolerant systems

  • Experience with Phoenix LiveView and real-time web applications

  • Knowledge of Erlang/OTP supervision trees and distributed Erlang clusters

  • Experience with message queues and event streaming (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.)

  • Experience with observability and monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, etc.)

  • Contributions to open-source Elixir projects or the broader community
