Petal Pro app deployment to customer premises - any problems?

From my reading of the license (IANAL): you’re fine to use Pro to build an app for a customer, where they deploy has zero bearing on the license.

What matters is that you supply the code alongside the app you build. The spirit of this is that you are supplying a product built using Petal, and you aren’t infringing on their business model of supplying petal.

They say you may NOT

• Re-distribute our Products or modifications of our Products (neither code nor design assets) separately from a completed End Product.

And then there is this summary:

Essentially, it is fine to build anything you like, as long as it does not directly/indirectly compete with our products and affect our product sales.

I hope that helps, but again it’s just my reading and I am not a lawyer.

My reading is that I would need to purchase the unlimited license. With the single site license, if I read the license correctly, I could only sell my product to a single customer.

My apologies! I misread your post at first and thought you were selling to a single customer to deploy on their infrastructure.

So yes, I think you’d need to explain your product more to petal directly, as this is grey area; they might deem this to be entirely unlicenseable activity.

I’m guessing it will depend on how finished your product is, or whether you are partially overlapping with the business model of petal itself.
