We’ve had a couple of heatwaves here in the UK, with the latest one seeing temperature and humidity unusually high (it’s been over 30 degrees indoors, with 99% humidity - according to my humidity monitor! (Tho it’s dropped to 91% today))
My monitor packed up! The backlight comes on but no picture or startup sequence - fair play to Dell they shipped one out within 24 hours. Even my iPhone refused to charge due to high temperature Must admit it’s made be cautious about using electronic equipment in this heat!
Has your hardware been ok? Whether dev or for Nerves projects…
East Side of California - right now it’s 40 if you can believe that, but tonight it will drop to ~30 degrees. OFC that’s Farenheit haha. The hardware is loving it.
Heavy frost this am (Downunder) - hardware was fine, but wetware was a bit sluggish.
I was up near Marble Bar earlier this year (Western Australia - very hot). GoPros after version 4 pack up in about 5 mins so we have a geriatric fleet of 4s, and we had to sit the external SSDs on an ice block to transfer video data. The Mac & iPhone were fine though.
I used to live in a climate with 30C+ / 90+% humidity for a few months a year - the main issue was the connectors corroding. Actually, the main issue was me melting on my office chair which is why we don’t live there anymore.
Here in Barcelona we are used to this level of heat, all the public transport is air conditioned, cafés and ofices are too, save for the very little fraction based in the middle of nowhere, beaches are welcoming and after all computers are not made to be working through summers, they deserve vacations too.
