FCM Travel is one of the largest and fastest growing global business travel management companies with a worldwide reach in almost 100 countries. Despite our size, we are still among the disruptors in the corporate travel industry. We also pride ourselves in having a bit of an edge… we strive not to be #1, but to be the #1 alternative.

About us

My name: Alex Castaño
My position: Technical Architect in FCM Digital
Company name: FCM Travel, FCM Digital team
Company website: Corporate Travel Management Solutions | FCM Travel
Company headquarters (country): Australia → Spanish Subsidiary Company
Company info and history: We use Elixir for our new booking synchronization tool. We process millions of reservations using Elixir, Broadway, Phoenix, etc. We also connect to different providers to enrich our data and build an API for our frontend teams using GraphQL.

About the job

Job title: Elixir Senior Backend Developer
Job description: Elixir Senior Developer - FCM Digital - OBT Team
Salary range: 50.000 - 70.000€
Qualifications or experience required: +4 years of proveed experience (+2 years of Elixir)
What the successful job applicant will be working on: You will be a core contributor to FCM Booking Global, our next-generation, multi-modal Online Booking Tool (OBT). This is a rare opportunity to build a high-concurrency, greenfield backend system designed to handle massive real-time search volume across Flights, Rail, and Hotels. We are moving beyond the limits of traditional monolithic architectures by leveraging Elixir and the OTP to create a fault-tolerant, low-latency engine. You won’t just be writing endpoints; you’ll be architecting a system capable of orchestrating complex, simultaneous integrations with global providers, ensuring that high-volume data IO never compromises user performance.

Position on remote work

Remote job: Yes
Remote restrictions: :european_union: Europe only. We can sign people in countries with FCM offices (UK, Ireland, France, Spain, Switzerland, Deutschland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Greece). We are open to signing people as contractors only in the European countries where we don’t have offices.

About the interview process

We like to move quickly. If you are the right person, we want you here. We’ve moved from application to hire in 2-4 weeks.

  • You send us your CV and optionally a cover letter. If you can send us a project/repository you built it will be a plus, but it isn’t mandatory.

  • If we like your profile we will invite you to an initial video call interview. This interview is more general, so we can know you, and you can ask about the company and the position.

  • Take home assignment.

  • The next step will be a more technical interview with the Elixir Lead. We can talk about your code, our architecture, how we work, what challenges you solved in the past, etc.

  • If we like you and you like us, we will make you a formal offer to join the team.
