Lead Elixir/Phoenix Developer - Enchères Immo Pro, Levallois-Perret, France, Remote Europe

Introductory paragraph

Enchères Immo Pro is looking for a Lead Elixir/Phoenix Developer who can own projects end-to-end: from product discovery and technical design, through implementation and testing, to deployment and infrastructure operations. You will work closely with the founders and business stakeholders in a predominantly French-speaking environment (French is a strong plus, but not mandatory). Enchères Immo Pro offers a competitive salary, stock options (BSPCE), comprehensive health benefits, flexible working hours, and a supportive and transparent work culture.

About us

My name: Goulven Clec’h

My position: Lead Developer

Company name: Enchères Immo Pro

Company website: https://encheres-immo.com/

Company headquarters (country): France

Company info and history:

Enchères Immo Pro is the leading French real-estate auction platform, working with over 1,000 agencies and partners! With our three core products, Enchères Immo / WinUp / Ventes Connect, we provide a comprehensive approach that connects sellers, buyers, and professionals around a common goal: making every transaction more transparent, efficient, and fair.

Elixir and Phoenix are at the heart of our technology stack. We also use LiveView and Surface for our front end (public website & user dashboard), PostgreSQL for data persistence, and TailwindCSS for styling. We also deeply leverage CQRS/ES patterns with Commanded, EventStore, and Oban for the auctioning system. Other notable technologies include Docker, Fly.io for hosting, GitHub Actions for CI/CD, AppSignal for error tracking, etc.

About the job

Job title: Lead Developer

Job description: Take ownership of our codebase and technical projects from end to end, collaborating closely with business stakeholders to deliver high-quality features that meet user needs. You will be responsible for maintaining and evolving our Elixir/Phoenix platform, ensuring code quality, and driving technical discussions within the team.

Salary range: Based on experience

Qualifications or experience required: No degree or years of experience required, but significant software development background (in Elixir preferred, but not mandatory)

What the successful job applicant will be working on:

  • Maintain and evolve the core platform powering real-estate auctions in France.

  • Design, implement and ship new product features in collaboration with stakeholders.

  • Integrate and maintain a variety of industry-specific APIs and data feeds (FTP, REST, XML-RPC, etc).

  • Contribute to a clean, well-tested, observable codebase, and help keep technical debt under control.

  • Make pragmatic architectural decisions and drive technical discussions with the rest of the team.

Position on remote work

Remote job: yes

Remote restrictions: Europe

Remote leeway: no

Any other notes about your position on remote work: Almost every non-tech role are hybrid (partly remote, partly in-office) in our Vannes/Levallois-Perret offices. But tech roles have been fully remote since the company’s start, even if you are welcome to come to the offices if you want to. I’ve been to the Paris office only once in 5 years!

About the interview process

  1. Initial screening (30 min): Short call after a first selection based on the profile, to clarify motivations and practical details.

  2. Technical exercise: A practical, simple, take-home technical test relevant to our domain (no tricks, flexible timing).

  3. Technical interview (60 min): Meeting with the current Lead Developer to review the exercise and discuss the role in more details.

  4. Founders’ interview (60 min): Discussion with the two co-founders about culture fit, expectations, and contract details.

  5. Offer.

We aim to complete the full process within 3 weeks. We provide feedback at each stage and are happy to accommodate your schedule.

Please confirm that you are based in Europe, and let us know whether you will need visa sponsorship, either immediately or in the future.

Don’t apply by email if you applied through the LinkedIn job posting, both channels fall into the same application pool.

Don’t hesitate to ask any questions about the role or the process in the thread, I’ll be happy to answer!

Hey everyone!

Since we’re not on LinkedIn, I’ll allow myself to talk about the role a bit more informally: the goal here is to find my replacement, as I’m about to move on after five years on the project.

It’s a good opportunity if you’re autonomous and enjoy working across the board, not just on the tech but on the product side as well. The two bosses are genuinely great to work with, and you’ll really have a say and a real impact on the company’s future.

I’m leaving because, after five years in the company, I need to see something different: a bigger organisation, a more international environment, and more growth opportunities. But the Enchères Immo codebase is in good shape, and so is the working atmosphere.

Thanks everyone for the enthusiasm around this role — we’ve received A LOT of very strong applications and will be reviewing them carefully.

For this first round, the founders have decided to prioritise French-speaking profiles. If we don’t find the right match, I’ll then reach out to selected English-speaking candidates based in Europe.

In any case, once we’ve made a decision and closed the process, I’ll post an update here and email all candidates.
