Another year of Stack Overflow survey results! Pretty strong showing from Phoenix/Elixir as usual.

Elixir is still one of the most desired languages/skills second only to Rust.
The biggest annual growth appears to be Zig! Expect this trend to accelerate! :chart_increasing:

What can we infer from this?

  1. Erlang and Elixir still pay above average; this is probably due to most engineers coding these languages being “senior”. It definitely reflects the relative scarcity/availability; Demand outpacing Supply. :chart_increasing:
  2. Not enough people who know Elixir are employed in writing Elixir day-to-day. Companies haven’t switched to Elixir for whatever reason. :thought_balloon:
  3. Does the higher “productivity” of Elixir / Erlang devs - getting more done faster with fewer resources - justify the higher price? (I would argue: yes! What do you think?)

My only question is why did they mention Svelte in “Admired and Desired - Web frameworks and technologies”? Phoenix is the most admired by third year in a row, it would have been nice if they mentioned that.

I feel the high salaries is because generally senior developers use elixir full time..

When it comes to junior roles, TS or web development is the choice.
