Elixir Developer Salaries: What 216 Remote Job Listings Tell Us

I’ve been tracking remote Elixir jobs on HexHire for the past two months (Dec 2025 - Feb 2026) and put together a salary breakdown from 216 listings. Only 62 had salary info, and after cleaning out non-dev roles and duplicates, 44 solid data points remained.

A few things that stood out:

  • US senior remote median sits around $163k, with most listings clustering in the $150k-$175k range

  • Junior listings are almost nonexistent. Two in two months

  • Contract rates ($80-$120/hr) annualize well but you’re covering your own benefits

  • Europe ranges vary a lot: Germany tops out around 120k EUR, UK ~90k GBP, Southern Europe 40k-70k EUR for senior roles

  • 71% of listings had no salary info at all

I shared this on Reddit over the weekend and one thread that came up a few times: the junior gap. Several people pointed out that remote junior roles are rare across all languages, not just Elixir. Others noted that companies hiring for Elixir tend to look for experienced developers and expect them to pick up the language on the job.

One comment that stuck with me was someone saying there are more Elixir devs than jobs right now, and that networking matters more than it used to.

Curious what your experience has been. Are these numbers in line with what you’re seeing? And for those hiring, do you post salary ranges or skip them?

Quick follow-up to the winter salary report I posted earlier this year.

I ran the same analysis on March 1 - April 28, 2026:

  • 89 remote Elixir listings on HexHire
  • 38 had usable salary info (about 20%, similar to winter)
  • US senior median: ~$156k
  • Top single ceiling: $260k (Jump / Advisor AI)
  • River Financial still posting Staff at $200k-$250k
  • UK climbed: Sona £85k-£105k, Client Server £95k-£115k

Full breakdown by seniority, region, and company is here:

Curious if anyone has a theory on why junior US listings are basically zero this period (and last).

Thanks for sharing, very interesting!

I’d love it if in the future we have some data on the wider EU economic area.

There is not much (if any) remote job postings outside of - UK, Germany, Spain, France and Italy.
I’ve seen from Poland and Netherlands but that’s maybe it
