Ajay K, India (UTC +05:30) - experienced developer looking for a new opportunity!

I’m a Senior Backend Engineer with 12+ years of experience specializing in Elixir, distributed systems, and scalable architectures. My background spans consulting, product-based startups allowing me to balance technical excellence with product thinking.

In my most recent role at Remote, I contributed to multiple teams, designing and implementing critical backend features like workflow automation, fraud detection, integrations and public APIs. I enjoy solving complex engineering problems, mentoring developers, and driving technical improvements that enhance performance and reliability. I thrive in environments where engineering meets product thinking, ensuring that technical decisions align with real user needs and business goals.

I’m passionate about clean abstractions, system design, improving devex and performance. While I primarily work with Elixir, I also have experience in Go, Java, C#, and infrastructure tools like Kubernetes and Docker. I believe in continuous learning, collaborating with smart people, and striking the right balance between immediate impact and long-term sustainability.

I’m now looking for a fully remote opportunity in a small to mid-sized company, preferably in an async-friendly environment. While I thrive as an individual contributor, I’m also open to technical leadership roles where I can drive architecture and mentor teams.

It’s not an exaggeration to say that Ajay is one of the best engineers I ever had the pleasure of working with. Both on a technical and on a human level.

Whenever I talk about the elixir training camp at Remote and the success it had I always bring up Ajay (who I think was the… 2nd? Maybe 3rd? to go through it). He became productive for the team much quicker than I had anticipated and within 6 months of starting was explaining to me how dependency tracking (and the different variants of dependencies) in the elixir compiler work. This has always left me deeply impressed.

He always continued attending the learning calls, helping others, and being in general a great person to talk to and work with. He also contributed to a selection of company wide initiatives.

In case there’s any doubt, he comes with a huge recommendation from me and I’d be glad to work with him again in the future.
