Job title: Elixir Backend Developer

Job description:

As an Elixir Backend Developer, you contribute to the technical backbone of our healthcare platform. You help shape systems that perform at scale, remain resilient under high load, and meet the security expectations of a modern healthcare ecosystem.

You will work with Elixir services running on Nomad, containerized deployments, and infrastructure managed through Terraform.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and improving Elixir IAM services

  • Building scalable and resilient backend architecture

  • Optimizing performance of production systems

  • Applying secure coding practices

  • Working with containerized deployments and Infrastructure as Code

  • Contributing to service reliability and on-call responsibilities

Salary range: €48,100 – €71,500 gross per year, depending on experience (based on 38 hours per week, excluding profit sharing and additional benefits).

Qualifications or experience required:

  • Experience with Elixir or another functional programming language

  • Familiarity with production environments and high-performance backend systems

  • Infrastructure-aware mindset with understanding of architecture, deployment, and operations

  • Interest in learning and contributing to engineering practices

  • Comfortable collaborating remotely within an international team across European time zones

Nice to have:

  • Degree in Computer Science or Software Development

  • Experience with Docker

  • Experience with authentication and authorization concepts

  • Experience with Linux systems and command-line tooling

What the successful job applicant will be working on:

You will help build and maintain the Identity & Access Management platform that supports thousands of healthcare professionals. Your work will directly contribute to secure authentication, authorization, auditing, and platform reliability across Nedap Healthcare.

Position on remote work

Remote job: Partially

Remote restrictions: Candidates must be located within Europe and able to work within European time zones.

Remote leeway: We are open to candidates across Europe who can occasionally travel for in-person team gatherings.

The team works primarily remotely. Optional office space is available in Groenlo, Utrecht, and Nijmegen (The Netherlands). Team members meet several times per year in person, and occasional travel to Groenlo is expected.
